My Journey

Looking back to different stories, I have realized that....it has been FOUR YEARS since the first post was posted on my blog. Wow! The most important thing is how my writing has changed and developed since then. This story isn't exactly what it normally is, but it means something to me and I want to share it.

Hey everyone! Welcome back to STorytime for Kids! Today I’ll sharing my past in writing in ways like how i got started, my first story, and my progress up until today. As of date, I have been writing for five full years and it is interesting and fun to look back at te stories I have written. Enjoy!

It started back in second grade when Covid began. Teachers started giving us assignments to do online. IT WAS SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOo BORING!! When my teacher made everyone pull up a Google Doc and write a short story. I decided to go all out.

This is the first story I have written. Before this, I barely knew how to type and write.

Once upon a time there were two blobs named Glob and Slob. They also never conserved water.

Their teacher Ms. Seed noticed it at recess one day. She secretly took pictures of them wasting water and sent them to their mom.

When they reached home from school, their mom said "Go and wash your hands and then sit at the table, we have to talk about a serious report".

As Glob and Slob washed their hands, their mother was watching them. She saw that her boys didn't turn of the faucet. She shouted at them and told them to turn off the faucet.

The next day Glob and Slob got up and and didn't even bother to brush their teeth! Their mother was waiting for them. I want peanut and butter jelly sandwiches for breakfast please both of them said at the same time.Soon it was time to leave and Glob and Slob were ready to go to school.

They quickly ran in the school before the bell rang.Their mother parked in front of the of the principals office and went in.

The principal said "Hello Mrs.Blob! What brings you here?" Glob and Slob's mother explained everything and the principal said..."Oh that? sure, just put something in there bottles that makes it heavy and they will not be able to drink"

The next day was Field Day and their mother quickly collected stones and put them in their water bottles. A few hours later Glob and Slob got very thirsty and tried to have a drink but their were rocks instead of water.

Ms. Seed then offered some water from her water bottle. Glob and Slob realized that water was very precious and from that day on always conserved water.

Moral: Always save water

THE END

Just by looking at it. I can see grammatical errors, punctuation mistakes, but….a lot of creativity and inspiration. Let’s fast forward to 2021.

There once was a girl named Meredith Michelle, she spent her time in the world going for walks, studying, writing and other sorts of things. One day when Meredith was 9 a letter from the mailbox had arrived it read:

Dear Meredith Michelle, you have been picked to go to Magic Academy 20 miles from your home. For starters you will need a few pets, the rest we will be providing.

See you there!

Headmaster Willows

I read the letter, “Mother! Father! There is a school invite letter in the mailbox!” she yelled.

“Stop yelling dear! You don’t want to bring us a bad name.” Yelped her mother.

“Sorry Mother.” I apologized.

“Oh my, Magic Academy, you do need some schooling I guess it will have to do, let’s get you some pets shall we?” Said her father.

“It says I will need at least 4 pets. That’s a lot.” I said.

Cuddling my cute animals I thought of names, Rover and Clover the bunnies, Rainbow the garden dragon and Midnight the horse.

“Perfect!” I thought.

My writing abilities had increased a lot since my first story. It still needed some tweaking, but almost. Jumping into 2022

Minutes pass by, and we all sit down and wait. Hours start to float away. Mia paces back and forth, biting her nails. RING!!!!

“Someone get the phone!” I yell.

“He-, Hello? Yes. Really? Thank you!” says Alice.

“So?” Mia says.

Alice doesn't say a word. Charlotte breaks the tension.

“Spill it!” she yells.

“WE WON THE TRIP TO HAWAII!!!” Alice whoops.

We all cheer! Yes! This is going to be soo much fun!

Oh, pardon me, I haven’t introduced myself. My name is Emma and I am 19 years old. My friends and I participated in a science competition and won the prize. A trip to Hawaii!

Now up to date……

On Saturday morning, Tom, Sasha, and their baby sister Olivia were getting ready to go to the beach for a party with their parents. While Sasha did her hair and Olivia babbled in her crib, Tom was helping his parents get everything in the car. He brought the blue cooler filled with sodas, popsicles, and chilled bottled water into their minivan. Then he ran back inside to help with the chairs. As Sasha finished her beautiful silky brown locks of hair, she helped her mother to pack. First, they tended to little Olivia’s bag. Olivia’s diaper bag took most of the space, but there was just enough space to squeeze in her baby lotion, sunscreen, bug spray, an extra onesie, and rubber bands. Tom’s bag was next. They filled it with his swimming trunks, lotion, sunscreen, bug spray, extra pair of clothes, and inflatable pool floats for Olivia and the other kids going to the beach. Sasha’s bag was much like Tom’s and Olivia’s, but she had the whole family’s towels inside because her bag was so unwieldy. Tom and his father had a hard time loading it into the van. Everybody climbed into the minivan and fastened their seatbelts. Tom did Olivia’s, and they were off to the beach!

The Things burst into cheers! Finally, they could have fun! That afternoon, there was a party going on in the living room. All the Famous Things were there, Hair brushes, Clips, Technology devices, Clothes, etc. The not-so-famous Things were there too. Lice comb, Toothbrushes, Toilet Paper, and the Garbage Can. Nobody seemed to mind, and the party was off to a great start. The room was divided into two sections, the cool side and the boring side. The boring side had four categories: Next to Be in The Cool Side, Somewhat Cool, Almost Cool, and Will NEVER be Cool. If anybody from the boring side made their way to the cool side, the police action figures would take them away. Everyone was having fun except Lice Comb. She had to compete with Hair Brush, the diva. Hair Brush was so snooty, more than mean, it was annoying. She always tried to act cool while Lice Comb always seemed lame. That made Lice Comb sad. Even the boring Things didn’t like her. She only had her best friend Toilet Paper. Nobody liked Toilet Paper either. That made them the “Dreaded Duo”. Everywhere they went, they were laughed at. Which added another category in the boring side system, - WILL NEVER EVER BE COOL NO MATTER HOW HARD THEY TRY. That category was only for Toilet Paper and Lice Comb.

From looking at my first story to now, I can see the difference.

Now.. a quick teaser from 2021.

Once upon a time in a land far away there lived a monster named Gabe. He loved playing games with his little sister named Stella, but what he really loved was motorcycles. He would watch monsters riding motorcycles almost everyday. His parents thought it was insane, so they abandoned him from watching motorcycles on tv. Instead Gabe’s parents made him watch the news!!!!!!! 6 months later, Gabe was so very tired of hearing the same thing everyday which Sounded like this. Hi my name blah blah blah today is partly cloudy with a high of 78 and a low of 51. Tomorrow’s weather is sunny with a high of 99 and a low of 88. If Gabe tried to watch motorcycles, he would get detention. So he decided to not watch tv at all, But that was not all tomorrow he started his first day of Kindergarten!!!!!  So Gabe got some school supplies from Monster Michaels, which were monster pencils, monster crayons, monster markers, monster sharpeners and monster erasers. He also bought a backpack and lunchbox together. They all were 9 $ and 99 cents. But he was scared of what it would be in his new classroom. Finally Gabe fell asleep and the next thing he knew was his first day of Kindergarten!!!!!!!!

When I wrote this story, I was so pleased with myself because I had written a thousand-word story for the first time. Now my stories are usually a thousand or two thousand. A thousand just seems less. Which is really funny as my expectations have drastically changed.
