Friendship is the Best Recipe

Friendship is the Best Recipe

Once upon a time there lived an ant named Gracie, it was friends with a grasshopper named Grassy. They were the best of friends, they collected food together, sang together and ate together.

One day a big windy storm blew where the ant hill was, and it killed more than a thousand ants!
They were in search of shelter so Gracie went to Grassy’s home and knocked on the door, when Grassy saw Gracie and all the other ants shivering in the rain, he invited her and all the other ants inside the hut. Then Grassy said, when the storm clears we will find you a better place to stay.

A few hours later the storm cleared up Gracie and Grassy and all the others went searching for a new home, Then Gracie saw a pile of sticks and twigs under a bush and told Grassy, We could use those sticks to make a cabin! Then Grassy said, Predators will see you easily.

Then Grassy saw a broken coconut shell and said, Guys let's use the coconut shell! The ants gasped when they saw the coconut shell, Grassy then said to a few ants, go find some thorns to make a hole in the coconut shell. 45 minutes later the ants were back with a few thorns. Grassy said make a hole in the coconut shell! Then he looked at Gracie and all the other ants, He said, Go get every tiny leaf you can find on the tree to half of the ants.

Then he looked at the other half and instructed them to get berries. Then 2 hours later he saw the ants returning with leaves and berries. They begin helping each other by making piles of leaves and berries. Just then Gracie saw a person walk by and drop a Christmas light, she asked Grassy if they could use it, Grassy said, Of course why not!

Then he asked a few ants to grab something sticky, they returned back with something stinky but it was definitely sticky.  Then Grassy put the sticky thing on his hands and legs and began spreading on the inside of the coconut shell. When he was done, a few other grasshoppers helped him put the light on.

When all the work was done the grasshoppers and ants celebrated with a huge party! Then they went to collect more food but when they reached the juiciest strawberries in the land some anteaters were near the coconut shell. Gracie and all the other ants were terrified but they got ready to attack.

Then without the anteaters looking at them they crept behind them. Then the army commander yelled ATTACK!!!!!!!!!

And with that the ants started gnawing off pieces of fur on the anteaters, the grasshoppers went the other way and saw a mountain lion basking in the sun, they started biting him until he roared.

He tried to stamp on a few grasshoppers but they were too fast, on the other hand, the anteaters got scared by the roar of the mountain lion and ran deep in the grassland, then when all the grasshoppers returned, they stored all the food needed in the coconut shell. The next day they opened the door to get some sweet stuff for the night, they were inviting the grasshoppers over, but when they looked outside a starburst was lying on the floor.

They asked some ants to stay inside the coconut shell and cut the starburst. Then all the other ants went in search of food, they didn’t have to go far though, a few people were having a picnic with cookies, fruits, veggies and noodles when the people weren’t looking they got all the food in just 5 minutes!

A few hours later all the food was stored, the starburst was cut, thousands of seats were mended and they had gotten lots of twigs in a huge pile. Then the grasshoppers knocked on the door and Gracie invited them in and showed them the starburst, she gave them one piece with a stick on it. Then reminded them they had to collect food because Winter started the next day. The grasshoppers quickly gathered all the food not knowing it wasn’t enough. The next day there was only one piece of food left and the fleas took it away, so Grassy decided to go to the coconut shell with his family and friends. Then when they reached, Gracie quickly let them in and gave them all the hot chocolate with marshmallows and blankets they had.

Moral: Friends help each other
