Marine Madness

Image
When people dump trash in the sea, where does it go? What happens to it? People dump trash in the sea and it goes into marine animal bodies, making them struggle and die. We know what causes it, but what are the effects? 150 million metric tons of plastic are in the ocean, and 8 million more tons are added every year. People think that pollution is not okay, but it’s more than not okay, it's deadly! Marine organisms entangled in pollution can suffer from suffocation and starvation which lead to their death. And improperly disposed of chemicals are polluting marine life and killing sea mammals, corals, and fish. At the same time, sea birds are affected because they eat contaminated fish. The long-term effects of pollution in the sea are reproductive system failure, behavioral changes, cancer, and death. And all that can lead to severe and drastic changes to our whole ecosystems. But there are always more, maybe medium-sized effects, that can lead to big effects. These land-based s...

Summer vs. Winter

When someone says “Do you like summer better or winter better?” You would say “I don’t know, they are 2 very different seasons.” And they are, but…what if they aren’t? Though there are many differences between the seasons, there are some key similarities. First, what are the basic things about summer? Some activities in summer include bike rides, making ice cream, meeting friends at the local playground, having a picnic at a local or state park, sidewalk chalk murals, backyard camping, backyard stargazing, and so much more! The weather during summertime is immensely hot, so hot that your body starts sweating automatically, but most days are the perfect temperature. But when it gets too hot, drinks to the rescue! A lot of people like cold drinks in summer, to cool them off. Coldwater, chilly soda, cool Fanta, sprite, juice, smoothies, anything that keeps your body feel not too hot or too cold. But, the most fun part, especially for students and children is schools are out! Fun days, t...

The Time Machine

Charlotte is a beautiful, smart girl. Always has her nose deep into a history book. The book teleported her to many places. At the signing of “The Declaration of Independence on July 2nd, 1776” or maybe at the “American Revolution”, with the prehistoric time with dinosaurs, with Orville and Wilbur Wright. So many places that just fit in one book! It was early morning, and Charlotte was at the wishing well with her favorite history book. She took a shiny penny and whispered, “I wish I could get a time machine and I get to travel back in time to see these places.” Then she dropped the coin and watched it sink in the water until it wasn’t in eyesight anymore. A few weeks later after that moment, Charlotte was sitting at her desk, when white steam appeared out of thin air! A rusted car was sitting in her bedroom! To get a closer look, Charlotte dusted all the brown particles off, and there, it read: Time Machine .  “Whoa, my wish came true! I’ve got an idea! I can test it on my ...

Once upon a time there lived 2 garden dragons, they were sisters and were pets of 2 humans. The elder one Diamond had shiny metallic golden wings and her body was bright and glowed gold shimmers. The younger one however was not like her sister, She was called Pink Rubie. She had two light pink wings and her body was a darker glittery hot pink. The two fought a lot when they met, so they were really happy that their owners didn’t live together. They only saw each other 2-3 times a week. One day their owners went for a sleepover at Diamond’s. The owner of Pink Rubie set her free and trotted away.  “What are you doing here in my house!” said Diamond, outraged.  “My owner wanted to meet your owner so don’t look at me!” Pink Rubie yelled back.  “Ugh, whatever! She was working on the job swap, (A firefighter and police meet, with the invention, the police officer can turn into the firefighter and the firefighter the police.) Lexi was going to show it to the principal, but there was this bump on the floor that many had tripped over, and you can realize what happened. “CRASH!!!” “What is all the racket?” said the principal, but the Job Swap was in action, Lexi kind of escaped the invention, but now the principal had become a kid!
