 Today we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr day, so let’s get some information on him.

Who is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr?

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr was an American baptist minister and an activist in civil rights. He was a spokesman who stood up for equal rights. Some people back then didn’t give equal rights to people just depending on how they look, racism. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr said that each race should be treated equally.


 Martin Luther King Jr Childhood

Dr. Martin King Jr was actually named (Michael King Jr) but he and his father changed their names to Martin. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr was born on January 15, 1929. Dr. MLK Jr was taught at school in harsh ways, since people couldn’t go to the same schools, they were separated. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr skipped grades 9 and 11, entering college at age 15.


Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Achievements

Dr. MLK Jr won a lot of awards, but one of his most famous speeches is the “I Have A Dream” speech which took place in Washington D.C, August 23, 1963. His awards were unbelievable. The Nobel Peace Prize - 1964, Grammy Hall of Fame - 2012, Presidential Medal of Freedom - 1977, Congressional Gold Medal - 2004, Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album - 1971, Spingarn Medal - 1957, Jawaharlal Nehru Award for International Understanding - 1966, Margaret Ranger Award - 1966, Anisfield-Wolf Book Award for Nonfiction - 1959.

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." 

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." 

"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter."


And that was Dr. Martin Luther King Jr (January 15th, 1929 - April 4th, 1968)

I have a dream that one day every valley shall be engulfed, every hill shall be exalted and every mountain shall be made low, the rough places will be made plains and the crooked places will be made straight and the glory of the Lord shall be revealed and all flesh shall see it together.
