Magic Mirror
It was 5 in the morning on a Saturday and some creaking sound woke me up. I didn’t want to get up because, well, it was Saturday and 5 in the morning!
“Serenity!” my mom called.
“Coming,” I said as I tried to pull myself from the bed’s grip.
I walked so slowly it took me 20 minutes to get down the stairs, go right, turn left and go straight until I reached the kitchen.
“Whoa what is that!?” I said out loud looking at a beautiful ornate mirror with a coat of shining silver diamonds.
“Use your brain Serenity!” said my mom.
“Yeah and mom please ground her for eating one of my chips,” said my older brother.
“Stop it you snitch!” I shouted back.
“Stop calling me a snitch!” my brother shouted back.
I smiled evilly inside my head. I love when I bother him.
“I know what it is, it’s a mirror. It’s just so fancy!”
“I know!” my mom declared. “I’m going to use it for our party with my friends for a change.”
When my mom and brother walked out of the kitchen, I sighed, for the last few years everything was boring. We don’t travel much and I hardly remember the last trip we took.
“I wish I could go on holiday for 3 days in a different country,” I said looking at the mirror, admiring its beauty.
Something flashed!
Oh brother, Oskar was obviously taking pics on his phone with the light to annoy everyone. That night I fell into a deep sleep. I was in a different country, but I couldn’t understand what people were saying and their religion. I kept tossing and turning until I woke up, the dream was real! When I woke up I saw someone staring at me! I sat up and looked around. I was in a house and I was on a bed covered with a blanket. Someone said something I couldn’t understand. As they left I sat up and looked around. I needed to get out of this place quickly. Luckily the room I was in had a balcony. I tried looking for a key to open the balcony, but there was nothing, great. I saw a vase and I did the only thing I could think of, I threw the vase at the glass door and things shattered. I heard someone shout and footsteps told me someone was coming up the stairs. I took a deep breath and jumped off the balcony. I know it was a foolish thing to do, but to my luck I landed on a wagon covered in soft hay, ok itchy hay, but at least I wasn’t dead. Where was I anyway? I remembered the airport! I could go there and see what place I was in! I got off the wagon after 5 minutes of time. But I had to find the airport myself, my phone!I looked in my pockets, there was nothing! Had I lost it in the hay! After a day of walking I stumbled upon a tall big building that I thought was an airport, guess what? It was!
“Name please?” said a flight attendant.
Oh no! I had to book a flight ticket before I got there. I saw a name book with people's names lying on the floor!
“Whoops, one minute I have to tie my shoe,” I said.
But actually I was scanning people's names and where they were going. Until I found one. (Maya Milana - Destination Driftwood, Austin, TX) Home!
“My name is Maya Milana, I believe I have a ticket to Driftwood, Austin in Texas,” I said.
“Oh Ms. Milana, you booked the first class so you’ll have your own room, here is your ticket, any luggages?” said the flight attendant.
“No,” I replied and then I heard a cry.
“Stop, this is not Maya Milana, I am!” the actual Maya Milana called.
They chased me all the way to the security area and I disappeared in the crowd.
“Ma'am please take off your shoes and put your phone in the box.” a security guard said.
“I lost my phone at home, so I don’t have one,” I lied taking off my shoes.
The guard looked at me and then asked me to grab my shoes and go on. I passed the metal detector and then from the start, the people that were chasing me yelled “There she is!”
But they had to go through all the stuff and they didn’t have tickets so they were forced back. I needed to go, I ran until I came upon the seats waiting for a plane, I glanced at my ticket or well Maya Milana’s ticket and I found a seat. Finally the time came and I was asked to take my phone out, then I lied and told the same story to the flight attendant, who yawned and said I could go on, I checked my ticket, but when I sat in the room I cried a little I hugged a pillow. I was a really bad child, what’d I done?! The room door opened with a big smash.
“There *gasp* you *panting* are!” said Maya
“Uhhhh Hello?” I whispered.
“Why would you steal a ticket from me!?” Maya questioned.
I cried and confessed everything and to my surprise Maya was actually laughing.
“That happened to me when I was your age. I wished upon a mirror and landed in another country!” Maya told me.
“Say...where do you live?” she asked.
I told her all about the location of my house.
“Hey! That was my old house!” said Maya.
“Is this a coincidence?” I said.
“I think so,”
“Okay here’s the plan, don't worry about me just get out of the airport I will meet you in the front, then we’ll go to your house, go inside and tell them about the mirror then you destroy the mirror ok?”
“Ok,” I said thinking about how I would tell mom about the mirror, hopefully Oskar wouldn’t but in.
As the plane landed I quickly ran off and by the time I was at the front of the airport Maya was already waiting there. We rushed home and my mom wrapped me so tight in a bear hug and was relieved to see me okay. I told her about the mirror and she just laughed her head off.
“Why *hah* would *giggle* a mirror *hee hee* be magic?” she managed to say between giggles.
“Ugh fine if you want to do this the hard way we do this the hard way!” I said, “Mom please wish in front of the mirror and say “I wish I could go outside right in front of our house”,”
“Ok, I wish I could go outside right in front of our house,” My mom said.
Nothing happened.
“See? *flash!*” said my mom.
Then Crack! We were outside, my mom was shocked and threw away the mirror. Job done!
