Hawaii

Minutes pass by, and we all sit down and wait. Hours start to float away. Mia paces back and forth, biting her nails. RING!!!!

“Someone get the phone!” I yell.

“He-, Hello? Yes. Really? Thank you!” says Alice.

“So?” Mia says.

Alice doesn't say a word. Charlotte breaks the tension.

“Spill it!” she yells.

“WE WON THE TRIP TO HAWAII!!!” Alice whoops.

We all cheer! Yes! This is going to be soo much fun!

Oh, pardon me, I haven’t introduced myself. My name is Emma and I am 19 years old. My friends and I participated in a science competition and won the prize. A trip to Hawaii!

I packed my sunglasses, my swimsuit, some clothes, sunscreen, my laptop, my headphones, and the whole series of Harry Potter Books.

Alice, Mia, Charlotte, and I met up at the DFW Airport.

We were checking in our bags when an attendant said to Mia, “Miss, your bag is over 50 pounds, we can’t allow it on the flight.”

We all stared at Mia.

“What? I needed to pack at least half of my wardrobe,” she said.

“Mia, we’re not even staying there for a week, and you packed half of your wardrobe?” Alice said.

“Well darling, we always need to be prepared,” remarked Mia. “Can anyone share their suitcase?”

“Use mine,” offered Charlotte.

After the whole suitcase and packing fuss, we headed into the security line. Today seemed a bit bland, not too many people.

“Licenses and tickets needed,” said a security guard. “Move along, that way.”

We put shoes, phones, accessories, bags, and watches for scanning. Then we were off!
