Dear Diary, my name is Jane Thomas. Happy New Year! My mom bought me this diary yesterday. My favorite color is gold and white, I like pasta, and my favorite animal is a unicorn! I can’t wait to write every single week! EEEEEEEH!!!!

Girl Thoughts:

Dear Diary, this week I signed up for the gymnastics team at my school. I’ve loved gymnastics since forever, but I’ve started to get worried. I haven’t practiced in a long time. There are backflips and frontflips, vault, headstands, cartwheels, beam, rings, uneven bars, and loads more. Hmmm… you know what I think I can do it! I can practice for tryouts. Girl Power!!!

Girl Thoughts:

Dear Diary, I’ve met my enemy. Alicia Pat, my worst nightmare. She makes up rumors about me at school and whenever she sees me she says “Did a weirdo enter the room? Hey, Jane Thomas just entered, she’s a weirdo!!!” So annoying!!! She brags about herself and has got a mean posse. Maggie Matri, Sophie Destiny, and Bell Beatrice. They scare me and follow me around at recess threatening me and calling me names.


One day, they will pay so badly, bye!

Girl Thoughts: 

Dear Diary, today I made a friend. Her name is Lily Wilson. She is the sweetest girl ever. I asked her if she likes to write in diaries. Turns out she loves it! I am going over to her house for a sleepover today, and we are going to draw pictures of us holding a diary! This is going to be the best sleepover ever!

No! She has more on her side! I’m doomed! That’s a sleepover? People in pictures holding diaries, “best sleepover ever!” I would have punched her, but I don’t have fists.

Dear Diary, I was talking to Lily today and she said that in a diary there has to be a short story of what you love, so here it goes. Once there was a unicorn who lived far away in a castle. She rode on a magical rainbow and she made sparks in the air. Ahhhh…relaxing.

A Different Day

  On Saturday morning, Tom, Sasha, and their baby sister Olivia were getting ready to go to the beach for a party with their parents. While Sasha did her hair and Olivia babbled in her crib, Tom was helping his parents get everything in the car. He brought the blue cooler filled with sodas, popsicles, and chilled bottled water into their minivan. Then he ran back inside to help with the chairs. As Sasha finished her beautiful silky brown locks of hair, she helped her mother to pack. First, they tended to little Olivia’s bag. Olivia’s diaper bag took most of the space, but there was just enough space to squeeze in her baby lotion, sunscreen, bug spray, an extra onesie, and rubber bands. Tom’s bag was next.   My name is Amulya Kuntamukkala and I’m a 5th grader at Barksdale Elementary in Plano, Texas. Ever since I learnt about nursery rhymes that my mom used to play for me, I was fascinated by the pleasant sound of music and Piano. I found a way to express myself and my feelings through music as I love to create my own music compositions. At times, I found myself singing in the shower and my parents proposed I should sharpen my skills and take voice lessons.  Classical songs are my favorites to play! Sometimes, I like to do a few tricks like playing a nursery rhyme with my hands on it backward or putting my head on the bench and my hands on the Piano which my teacher Ms.Jamie finds very amusing. Piano training has helped me in reading music proficiently. I am taking choir as an elective in middle school to help me read more complex music and improve my voice.
